Congratulations for your new pointe shoes!
Here you can find pieces of advice for sewing the ribbon and the elastic band of your pointe shoes.

Cutting the ribbon
Cut the ribbon into 4 equal pieces. If the ribbon is in satin, cut it straight to prevent the fabric from fraying.

Placing the ribbon
Fold the back of the pointe towards the front to trace where to sew the ribbon (indicated on the picture by the blue line).

Fold the end of the satin ribbon
For the satin ribbon, it is advisable to fold the end that will be sewed so it does not fray

Placing the ribbon
Place the middle of the ribbon on the traced blue line.
Place the ribbon at approximately 1 cm from the edge of the inside of the pointe shoes. If the ribbon is in satin, the satin side should be placed on the outer-side of the shoe.

Be aware of the pointe’s elastic bands
When sewing, do not sew on top of the elastic or cord located on the edge of the shoe. This would prevent the adjustment of the shoes afterwards.

Stitching the ribbon
Tip: fold the back side of the shoe outward for easy sewing.

Stitching the ribbon
Place the ribbon to make it form a square shape around the lining on the shoe to sew it.

Stitching the ribbon
Sewing on the lining will allow you to hide the thread inside the shoes.

Ribbon finish
Sew the loose end of the ribbon so it does not fray.

Sewing the elastic band
Sew the elastic, in a square, on the outside of the shoes, on each side of the back seam. This prevents the elastic from rubbing the heel.

Be aware of the pointe’s elastic bands
Reminder: When sewing, do not sew on top of the elastic or cord located on the edge of the shoe. This would prevent the adjustment of the shoes afterwards.

Sewing the elastic band
One side of the elastic is sewed right next to the back band of the shoe.

Sewing the elastic band
When one side of the elastic is sewed, put the foot flat in the shoes. Go around the ankle with the elastic to adjust where to place the other side of the elastic band. The elastic should not be too tight or too loose.

Sewing the elastic bands
The elastic is sewed on both sides of the back stripe of the shoe.

There we go !
Your pointe shoes are ready for your classes, auditions and presentations.
